The more that came out, the more it was obvious she was totally the wrong person to carry out an independent inquiry. She is deeply entrenched in the establishment. Her replacement needs to be someone outside of it.

She's 80, retrocop - the chances of her living long enough (or being in good enough health) to complete the enquiry would not have been very high - I'd lay odds on it taking most of the next parliament or even longer ...
Actually I was more thinking "why would anyone want to take this poisoned chalice" - then thought "and at 80 it would be even less something you'd want to do"
