It appears that this loud-mouth has put both feet in it again. She said this about the Gaza dead :::: "at least the ones that were killed were the ones with very low IQs"

Thanks for that Slaney, on the basis of viewing that, what she said was 100% unacceptable.

It would be best if 'celebrities' kept out of politics altogether.

Why should they rely on their own privileged position to get over their personal particular agenda?
Can't abide the woman, but Mickey you appear to be a fan of trial by media.

That I totally deplore.

And you certainly have an agenda on this topic.

No worse than the uncomedic Frank Boil. Apparently taken out of context though I cannot imagine what context they would work in, still as with the aformentioned gentlemen, this lady's stock in trade is to be offensive as neither can be funny.
Most Mericans were brought up during he cold war. The regard the Arabs as being on Russias side, and Israel as being on the US side. That is why the veto UN resolution after UN resolution about Israeli aggresssion.
Comedy is subjective and tends to reinforce our personal tastes and prejudices. In Rivers' case, she has a large Jewish following amongst her fans. No doubt they will enjoy her 'comments' as they chime with heir own views.

What every Jew who likes Joan Rivers will think exactly the same?
Wow...that's extraordinary.
I've been thinking about this a lot because it's a horrible comment and yet she says she's been misquoted or at least the quote taken out of context. Nowhere can I find the whole context of what she says she says.
Now if this is solely about Gaza and the children killed etc then //at least the ones that were killed were the ones with very low IQ's// is a pretty scuzzy quote by anyone's standards.
However if she was speaking about the issues in the middle east generally and suicide bombers then //at least the ones that were killed were the ones with very low IQ//- MIGHT refer to suicide bombers and thus be entirely out of context.
Ed Byrne made similar remarks ages ago about suicide bombers in his IRA stand-up. It was not badly received by anyone because the context was clear.
I would like to see the whole transcript of what she said, but that is the only context I can see it being even vaguely acceptable in.

Well there we have it then. All ABers must agree with mikey's view/slant or we are wrong. Our posts might be even described as drivel or irrelevant if it varies from mikey's dictate. Rather bombastic and arrogant view I think. Thank God we are all different, think for ourselves and prefer to work on hard evidence before we start spouting our forceful opinions on others. "appears that this loud mouth has put both feet in it again" pot kettle calling black?
It wasn't part of a standup routine that she'd had time to think about, but off the cuff remarks - therefore stupid and ill-considered.

The later statement tries to put a more reasonable spin on it but doesn't really succeed in my opinion.
"All ABers must agree with mikey's view/slant or we are wrong. "

nothing new there....hes a deluded leftie of the worst kind
he has a list of agendas as long as long as the wall of china...for the most part i dont waste any time on him here....not sure why the rest of you bother with this waste of space to be honest......maybe one day he'll get a life.....pfffft

"Now you are a man I can do business with" in the words of the immortal lady.
retro and bazwill, you are getting personal and your remarks are not necessary - let mikey's comments stand up by themselves, however unpalatable.
Sandy, I consider myself a right thinking person even though I disagree with you, I certainly would not consider you a wrong thinking person because we sit on opposite sides of the fence, dont be so bombastic as to thinking you take the moral high ground - you don't.
well you know the answer DTC
Out of context my butt.

Thanks slaney. Now we can see what she meant completely within context.

I was a fan of Joan Rivers in the 80s, but I think her time has passed (watched a documentary on her last year and the jokes she makes about Miley Cyrus are exactly the same ones she made about Madonna 30 years ago).

The 'apology' is actually quite offensive itself, because apparently she thinks it's the media's fault for misrepresenting her, when in fact we can all see and hear EXACTLY what she said in the clips.

Sad.
yes, those were her words alright. Hard to think of any context that would make them acceptable.
// yes, those were her words alright. Hard to think of any context that would make them acceptable. //

I'll take up that challenge jno.
If just before the clip she had said 'Ok, I'm now going to do an impression of an obnoxious racist ratbag'. That context might make cast a different light on it.
