I have just listened to Channel 4 TV news. Apparently all surviving illegal immigrants have applied for Asylum in this country. No surprise there then is there? It is claimed,by a Sikh spokesman, who lives in Southall, that all the illegal refugees have relatives living in Southall and had probably told them that Great Britain was a "welcoming and accomodating country". For that you can interpret as "Great Britain is a soft touch who will supply you with all you ask for paid for by the generous British taxpayers". It was also stated that Afghanistan had become more stabilised and thus a legitimate exit visa was more difficult to come by and that is why they chose the ILLEGAL path !!!
So in the words of ymb.Can you lentil crunching leftie hand wringing Islington set justify their illegal entry into this country ?
In the words of one of their own Sikhs living in Southall..(A) They came to Great Britain because they already have relatives here. (B) They were probably told of our generous handouts to those who are NOT entitled to in the first place. (C ) As Afghanistan is becoming more stable it is more difficult to obtain a exit visa as they are not endangered and fleeing for their lives as persecuted people. It rather shoots out the water the theory that they must be desperate to risk their lives to better themselves in this country IMO. If they were that desperate ,due to persecution in Afghanistan, they would of been very glad to seek asylum in the first European country who would grant them safety and refuge regardless of family ties in this country. Incidentally. I have also learnt that an ambulance call out costs the taxpayer £221 each. These illegals had a fleet of them at their disposal. They got their health checks at great cost to the NHS now do as the Canary Isles do. Put them on a boat straight back where they came from and let them feel grateful that they were not sent back in a sealed container. Forget costly immigration asylum processing and appeals. Just send them back where they come from. Other European states can do it and then so can we.

"I really hope that you never find yourselves in the position that you are so desperate that you bundle your family into a shipping container.." But they were not "so desperate". They were in Belgium, a member of the EU, a signatory to the ECHR and, when I last visited, a fairly agreeable place. Their desperation was not to escape oppression or torture - they'd...

I totally agree retro.

// in the hope of making a better life//
Please just explain to me WHY Britain to make a better life then instead of Belgium or whichever European country they first set foot in? If they were that desperate they would of not risked the lives of their families by taking a longer journey to a furthermost country when they could of claimed assylum earlier in another country to "better their lives". How "better" do they want their lives to be? Free housing, welfare checks,NHS. Don't bother telling me the answer. I think we all know it.
Such a shame that UK doesn't follow the Australians in their control of immigration.

Any undesirables are shipoped out of Oz same day or at the latest next day. There's no three weeks waiting for appeals to be heard. If you apear 'suspicious' - you are OUT.

There are examples on TV every week, showing how the Australian Border Control works - and is successful in keeping the 'baddies' out.

Well they can't be that bloody desperate if they just wan't to come to the UK to join their family for Christmas can they. That ,to me,displays criminal irresponsibility and a callous indifference to the lives of their family in taking a risk JUST to be with kith and kin.
ColinandJess

Well perhaps those relatives in the UK could visit them (not so far to go as Afghanistan) or better still they could illegally join them in Belgium also?

So now you say they have not entered this country ILLEGALLY to give themselves a better life. They have come here to join the family.!!!!
Decry illegal immigration all you will, and I add my voice to that, but please don't confuse it with Sikhism, which is one of the world's better and more enlightened religions
Sikhism preaches that true path to achieving salvation and merging with God does not require renunciation of the world or celibacy, but living the life of a householder, EARNING AN HONEST LIVING, and avoiding worldly temptations and sins.
Sikhism condemns blind rituals such as fasting, visiting places of pilgrimage, superstitions, worship of the dead, idol worship etc.
it also preaches that people of different races, religions, or sex are all equal in the eyes of God. It teaches the full equality of men and women. Women can participate in any religious function or perform any Sikh ceremony or lead the congregation in prayer.
They fought bravely with us in WWII, and during the last London riots, while shops were burning and people fled, no damage was done to any Sikh owned shops, why? because the owners brought out chairs and sat in the entrances wielding their swords, - the mob made a sharp exit.

It does appear that Sikhism does not condemn entering a Country Illegally though!!!!!

Or possession of an illegal weapon!

The Sikhs who sat in their shop doorways, illegally brandishing their swords, were here, I hope legally. Trying to sneak into this country without documentation is ILLEGAL and crime should not be tolerated.
I agree with you. The Sikhs fought bravely along side us in two world wars. That does not give Sikhs elsewhere a claim of residency and citizenship in this country though does it.
History does remind me of an Indian Mutiny many years ago. Was there any Sikh involvement in that as well as well as their contribution in WW1 and 2?
ColinandJess
I suppose I must seem rather clever in your eyes. I was clever enough to realise that these ILLEGALS did not cover that unnecessary and irresponsibly dangerous extra mile to visit our shores to top up their tans. Managed to work that one out by myself but thanks for the compliment in any case.

Sorry our posts crossed.
Baldric, I wouldn't advise you to attempt to remove a sword, illegal or otherwise, from a determined Sikh. :0)

I would leave that to an Armed Response Unit since the Sword is an illegal weapon
-- answer removed --
retro. Ref. was there any Sikh involvement in the Indian Mutiny?
Well not in opposition, in fact the Sikhs fought alongside the British Army to help to successfully put down the Muslim instigated rebellion.

Then under police rules of engagement they render themselves likely to be shot if it is deemed they are putting other lives in danger or that of a police officer who fears for his life. They don't need to possess a firearm. Any lethal weapon will suffice. Hope they learn our laws a little better if they wish to live here legally.
Re your earlier post I would prefer illegal Sikhs to follow their true path to another larger country, merge with their God and not merge into the black economy and become householders which are not supplied by the British tax payer.

///I actually pity you///

What, for saying people caught entering this Country Illegally should be sent back to the Port they came from, no doubting where that in this case.
And for saying this Country can't take much more?
How do you justify your attitude CandJ?

Khandro, what on Earth has all that got to do with a group of Illegals entering the UK ILLEGALLY?
baldric. For your information; ownership of all swords is perfectly legal in the UK, you can keep any sword you have already in your possession, but you cannot sell it or give it away.
