I am not at all convinced of Cliff Richards guilt and I think it is a withchunt over the failed Jimmy Saville situation. I dont think celebrities like this should be named until after the trial as their reputation could be ruined forever even if found not guilty.

How on earth do you feel qualified to decide on someone's guilt with no evidence, no trial?
The police need considerable evidence to secure a search warrent, and the fact that they have obtained one suggests that something has gone on - it remains to be seen what that is.

I would agree - an element of privacy is appropriate, espcially in high-profile cases like this one. The premise of 'innocent until proven guilty' tends to get lost under the media scrum.
The problem is that each celeb can be a "can't believe they'd be involved" situation, until convicted. For sure the pious career oriented Cliff sounds an unlikely sort, but not impossible. The press is, granted, having a field day, but we can only wait and see what is revealed.
I agree, gordie. It is disgusting that the BBC was ready with cameras to film the raid on his house. None of the celebrities accused in recent months should have been named until they were tried and found guilty.
My OH used to know Cliff fairly well years ago and he doesn't believe the allegations for a second.
No, the police don't need "considerable evidence" to secure a search warrant. No, the fact that they obtained one does not mean "something has gone on".

Some People Eh!

There's my argument - may we have yours?

Indeed it doesn't - which is why i did not say that.

If you re-read my post, you will see that I said it 'suggests' that something has gone on - innocent until proven guilty.
More people have come forward. That doesn't suggest his guilt but had he not been investigated......
He's such an odious creep one wishes...
The problem is jimmy saville was never tried in a court of law anomaly here
The rumours have been around for years, even that he is linked to the Jill Dandow murder.

The strongest one is that he has a 'Super Injunction' to prevent any discussion or publication of the stories
Cliff a hitman,I don't think so.

The site to which you have linked shows the two-edged sword that is the Internet - on the one hand it gives a voice to interesting factual information, and on the other, it gives a voice to nasty small-minded rumour-mongers.
I don't think it's a witch hunt, more likely a paedophile hunt.
Media involvement isn't always a good thing but without it this thread probably wouldn't have happened.
One of the things that secured Max Clifford's conviction was that women from different parts of the country, who didn't know his other victims, came forwards independently and gave the same details of his MO.

When a high-profile name is involved it can prompt victims to come forwards who would have held their peace otherwise......

And I see that the notion it is done for money/compensation is yet to go away....
Is it because it happens to be Cliff Richards?

No one seemed particularly interested when it was any of those other celebrities, in fact some were ready to convict them before they even went to trial.
EDDIE51; Wow! I've never read anything like that link and its sub links, are people able to post such stuff with impunity?
