The guy hasn't even been named yet, so I guess we'll have to wait till the trial.
It is reported that he was a cage fighter. Maybe, he should be let loose with a lion, with no weapon....
Yeah, and naked with body oil. Jeez. Why turn an horrific Event into a circus.
No circus Zacs, emphasises cowardice, a mismatch, 25yo with a weapon v 82yo. This guy must be seriously disturbed.
Erm...it was your suggestion.

It seems that this has more to do with mental health than terrorism.

He was chopping up animals and shouting gobbldygook about lighters and such like.
Still wringing my hands.

'' the cat's have stolen my lighter'' killing cats, banging on doors and windows. maybe nothing to do with his '' conversion '' could be mentally ill ?
/// He was cornered and shot with a Taser stun gun before being brought down by more than 20 officers. ///

Stand by for accusations of the police using excessive force on this poor chap.
'Poor chap'. I hope that's your idea of irony AOG.
According to today's reports he is from a Muslim background but did not adhere to Muslim principles. Would 'lapsed Muslim' be the correct term?

Madman would be more accurate.
Exactly my thoughts, Naomi. I don't think his religion, or lack of it, played any part in this.

It has been suggested that he watched some ultra violent footage of beheadings and torture but surely only a madman would do that.
// I think the police know it was him, jno.//

.... is not enough.

The police 'knew' the Birmingham bombers had 'done it'
and the police 'knew' ( because they told us) there was not problem in Rotherham.... and the Police knew that another plod had kicked that protester who later died and THEY were told to say nothing

that is, of course, why, we all know, we have courts.

and as you say N another mad convert so he may be found to be unfit to plead ( so not convicted of anything )
ag // a mismatch, 25yo with a weapon v 82yo. This guy must be seriously disturbed.//

has actually been run as a defence - [didnt work]
Question Author
hc, that could be true - but I wonder if, without his religion, he'd have watched at all?
Was this bloke trying to make a point, " It can happen here "
I suspect that some people have aligned themselves to a narrative which might be misleading.

When I read the story, I saw the part where he claimed that cats has stolen his lighter, so he beheaded them, before going on to kill this poor woman.

To me, that shouts paranoid schizophrenia, rather than any adherence to religious text.

I might be wrong, but at this stage, before we learn more about him (from family, friends, associates, fellow mosque attendees), it would be sensible to view 'Muslim covert' not as a principle driver, but as an element in his make up which may in fact turn out to be completely irrelevent.

The cat thing has me leaning towards 'serious mental problems', but we'll see...
