Do They Realise That "yes" Would Be Forever?

I think Cameron made a good point when he said that the yes voters are treating this like a general election! No you can't change it in 5 years! You're stuck with it!

In practical terms, what would prevent them from requesting and then obtaining Union with the rump UK, at some stage in the future?
The circumstances last time are practically unrepeatable - except perhaps the backruptcy part. No problems with royal sprogging, since they stopped marrying their own kind. ;-)

I made the very same point a week or two ago TTT. This isn't an election for a new Government...its forever. My personal view is the Scots are trying to give the English in general, and the Tories in particular a black eye but most of them don't understand the full importance of the consequences. This is mainly due to the YES campaigns continual refusal to explain what currency they will use.
I have just listened to John Swinney being interviewed on the Today Program. Swinney is the Finance Secretary in the Scottish Parliament and if anybody should know, its him. Naughtie gave him plenty of opportunity to explain the currency issue but he still continued to waffle on.
Without that most important of questions being answered, how can anybody vote yes ?

Much of the bilge on the AB News category of late - from both Scottish and English members - which seems to be based on a dislike of Alex Salmond, makes it clear that many have looked no further than a few months ahead. How long do they imagine HE will be a major force in Scottish politics in the event of a 'Yes' vote? If that happened, a general election would be held there at which all parties will be represented. Who knows? The Scottish Tory party might win the day; after all, they held power in Scotland for decades in the past.
Anyone who bases his/her vote on being pro/anti Salmond is clearly a dumbo who has no concept of what independence really means in terms of time/duration.

QM...the difficulty with democracy is that dumbos have the right to be dumbos. There isn't a qualifying test before you get your voting papers...just being alive and old enough is sufficient ( although in NI, actually being dead doesn't always debar you from taking part ! )
So, dumbos can and do vote.....look at UKIP for goodness sake !

Yes jim this would help the tories, especially with the current composition of the house, but I fear for what will become of Scotland, I fear as a nation their hatred of the English and the Tories will force them to cut off their noses... Taxes will be higher prices will be higher, employers will head south.
Hypo, in practical terms it's forever. They can't run home after it all goes up the pictures.
