I have no doubt that Australia has underground cells of pitential Islamic terrorists.
But the timing is very convenient. Australia this week commited to the forthcoming war against ISIL. They need to justify another war with the Australian public, so suddenly they arrest 15 'terrorists' about to commit atrocities.
Do not be surprised if a similar plot is thwarted in the UK soon, so that there will be support when we join the war.

... or it could be that the threat from Islamic madmen has heightened in recent weeks.
//It is the first time Australia's threat level has moved from medium to high - the second-highest rank - since the system was introduced in 2003.//
Cynicism is misplaced. The security forces aren't playing games.

Monday:
// Prime Minister Tony Abbott promises fighter jets and special forces to coalition set to battle the Islamic State group. //
Thursday:
// Australia's largest ever counter-terrorism raids detained 15 people and foiled a plot by Islamic State jihadists to conduct "demonstration killings", reportedly including beheading a member of the public on camera. //
Yeah, the two are unconnected.

Shortly after we had joined the Coalition to invade Iraq based on the sexed up dossier, there were raids across the UK. A memorable one was the plot to Bomb Manchester United splashed across the front of the tabloid press...
// Tickets to a Manchester United game found during anti-terrorist raids sparked fears of a suicide attack on Old Trafford. But they were for an old match and had been kept as souvenirs by the suspects, who were fans of the club.
The revelation will lead to further criticism of the operation which led to the arrest of 10 people by armed Greater Manchester police in dawn raids last month. All have since been released without charge.
Claims that the group - mostly Iraqi Kurds - was plotting to hit a major target such as a shopping centre or a football stadium were widely reported, but turned out to have no substance. //
But it succeeded in shutting up those who were vocal about the legitimacy of the war.

If we make excuses for the order of events we will be forever on the back foot.
Perhaps the intel was building so the threat level had to be moved up a notch and because of the imenant nature of that intel they had to act.
I don't see too much wrong with the order of events. It maybe a ploy to get the nation on board but realisitcly I think it is a practicle way to get the silly Yabbie$ who give excuses and platitudes to fanatics and murderers a kick.
Many a battle has been lost because the liberal left (wherever they happen to be) are too scared to act in the best interests of the majority/country.
