Women Fighting In The Street

Just found this today. What I find amazing is that all the passers-by just stood and watched while this horrible woman committed this serious assault.

I haven`t seen any women fighting since I was at school. There were the odd skirmishes between boozed up lads at the discos though. I used to go to a disco in Bude and I always seemed to be standing right where the skirmishes would start. The music would stop and all the lights would come up bright. There was a glass collector who was an old lady and she used to wear a long skirt and pinney. She looked really out of place. One night there was a kerfuffle next to me (as per usual) and the music stopped, the lights went up and everyone was thinking "Where`s the fight"? It was the old dear - she`d tripped over her skirt and dropped her tray of glasses.

No sqad - she probably did that in the car park later.

If someone had intervened and the 'horrible woman' sustained an injury who do you think would have been taken to court for assault? It is so often the victim or the helpful member of the public who, as a soft option, is the one blamed. I still like to think I would have done something, though (I have spoken up in cases of animal cruelty) but who really knows what they would do?

Not all just watched. The older guy in the foreground seems to be trying to tell them to stop. But I think it is the expected reaction. Many too stunned at what is suddenly going on to be able to react. Some not taking notice of the commotion until they finish what they're doing. The rest wondering if they should get involved in someone else's dispute, and not wanting to be a victim themselves are inclined not to stick their nose in. I think it is the few that act, wade in, then think afterwards. Probably always will be. That's why a uniform helps, but there are few coppers on the beat these days, you are unlikely to find one nearby. Still the CCTV stopped it immediately, so that's ok; oh hang on a moment ...

Tiger ...there is no reason to think that anybody coming to the rescue of the victim would be prosecuted for doing so. That kind of things exists mainly in urban myths. There was a young lad in the news a few days ago for coming to the aid of two Police Women and he was widely praised.

Some people bemoan the extensive use of cctv in and around our town centres but it can prove very useful in incidents where there is a lack of independent witnesses.

Talbot...its perfectly obvious to every other person on here today, but if you really can't work it out for yourself....... My point was that a serious assault was being made on this poor woman and everybody stood around and did nothing. I'm not sure I can make it any clearer for you, and to be honest I can't be bothered to try !

Even thirty years ago this story wouldn't have made the local paper, never mind the nationals because there was very little CCTV to record such occurrences.

I would have intervened. Its something I have done before and I wouldn't hesitate to do so again. The last time I sat on a thief, until the security guard came along...it seems that being 19 stone has its advantages after all !

If this horrible woman had a gun, it might have been different, but she didn't. Hope that makes it clear !
