In his "sod you lot, I'm off" speech, Alex Salmond says ...

"For me as leader my time is nearly over, but for Scotland the campaign continues and the dream shall never die"

The campaign continues ??

Until the minority ... have imposed their will upon the majority ...

Mmmm ...

Places where that has happened in recent history ... thinks, thinks ...

South Africa under Apartheid?

Are we going to have dealings with a party whose line is ...

The majority have spoken. But, frankly, we don't care about the majority.

If the SNP have any sort of power in Scotland, they rule as a party who have expressed contempt for the wishes of the majority.

That is only ever a bad thing.

"School ground flounce? "You didn't let me win so I'm not playing anymore" "play by my rules or I will take my ball away." Or, he did the decent thing having had a wee slap from the electorate and, rather than wait to be dismissed by his party, left on his own terms instead of teary-eyed after destroying British industry, militarising the police and kicking the...

//All the polls showed that the No vote was strongest among older Scots; younger ones voted Yes. //

That's interesting. I wonder what the outcome would have been if 16 and 17 year olds hadn't been given the vote? Does anyone have any figures?
I think we've tried to find out, naomi, but nobody can say as yet (not sure if they do release that sort of data).
Can't help suspecting there was a method in the madness, Boxy. Didn't work though.
Every taxi driver, back during the Edinburgh festival, predicted a no vote without exception, pollsters take note.
I am not anti-Scottish. I have never accused the Scots of hating the English.
Do I not count?
There was a survey taken after the vote and folk were asked how they voted, the results are here, http://www.zerohedge.com/sites/default/files/images/user5/imageroot/2014/09/lord%20ashcroft%20poll.jpg
everyone's an expert :) :)

15 seconds is very good, not far removed from the time it would take for one missile (accidentally launched?) to travel from Faslane to Glasgow. However, don't worry about Glasgow in particular, one missile has the capability of killing 5 million people so the whole country would be destroyed.
yeah, and them things are going off accidentally all the time. ;-)
Cheers Jayne. :-)

I was a 'no' by the way.
It took over two years to hold the referendum. I sincerely hope that the post mortem is not going to take another two years.
In April 2011 HMS Vanguard, a nuclear submarine, somehow managed to 'bump' into the Isle of Skye. On an earlier occasion a UK nuclear submarine contrived to 'bump' into a French nuclear submarine. That's just what we need, skelly nuclear submariners.
And in those two accidents, were there any missiles "occidentally launched"?
We had the same trouble with boats hitting Southend pier...and it's over a mile long ;-)
Oh, sweet suffering Jesus!

//Tony Blair was the stongest Conservative politician in recent years//

I beg to differ. He was not fit to lick The Great Lady's shoes.
