jack - "The reason that the attachments to the relevant divisions are so short is that it was found that officers were found to be suffering from PTSD.
It's not as simple as glancing at the harrowing images. Each picture is studied in great detail to glean as much information about the child-victim, the abuser and the location."
I am not at all surprised.
As I advised, my task was simply to locate evidence that a site was being used to send images for download, which only meant me finding one image, and then clicking off it and advising the address. That meant I saw the images I saw for maybe three or four seconds each, but that was more than enough to burn them permanently into my brain - as I advised, i can remember then clearly years later.
If i thought I had to examine such images in detail day in day out, i would, I am sure, be curled up in a ball in the corner sobbing by the end of the second day.
Volunteers? I think not.
