New evidence has emerged suggesting that HIV in its present form began in Kinshasha in the 1920s, spread primarily through prostitution and unsanitary medical practices:

The reason it spread outside Africa was due to the advent of air travel when Americans, Europeans and other 'non locals' were able to visit the region and have sex with the locals. Then it was massively spread by the 'Gay Revolution' of the early 1980s when highly promiscuous, mainly but not exclusively homosexual anal sex , became acceptable .
^^ Yes if we try to blame the spread of AIDS on Gays there is uproar.
The truth is it was not anal sex itself that was to blame it was the social situation of the early 1980 particularly in the USA. It suddenly became acceptable even fashionable for gay men to have very many sexual partners and to have unprotected sex without even asking the partners name . If heterosexuals had behaved in the same way then AIDS would have spread within the wider community. Fear of pregnancy and the traditional values of monogamous relationships meant that that did not happen. The gay community had no such worries which is why AIDS spread so widely so quickly. Some Gay men in the early 80s openly boasted of having 10 and more sex partners in the same day, it did not take too many of that sort to cause the epidemic .
