Okay...no cheating (you're not allowed to go to their website and look this up)...

Who knows what policies UKIP have which aren't related to the EU and immigration?

This is based on something mikey4444 posted on an earlier thread and I suddenly realised that (broadly speaking), I know what the Tories, Labour and LibDems stand for on a number of subjects - but UKIP? I haven't a clue.

How do the rest of the AB News community fare?

(And no - this isn't an intentionally anti-UKIP thread, although it may be very morph into one, but that's not my reason for posting this question).

Do we care ? One might say we ought, but none of the parties do all what we want anyway. We know one thing they ARE for, and come some miracle they got in, one term would be enough. Can't see them doing worse than the usual suspects in a single go.
I think it's sole purpose is to prove that although Farage has a foreign French sounding name he is in fact the epitomy of Englishness with additional helpings of jingoism, and intolerance of Johnny Foreigner particularly the French.
Sounds good to me aog - the voice of the many indiginous people in this country.

And that's a negative?
Their policies seem ok to me, now where is the voting paper?
An interesting list

though some seem to be 'motherhood and apple pie'

ie export of live animals, looking after service people, implementing the 'bedroom tax' fairly

And some are contentious:

maybe a charge for initial visits to a GP would dissuade the hypochondriacs who run to the doctor everytime they get a cold or an ache

maybe we don't want people taking techie degrees just because they are free,
or restricting arts education to rich kids or penalising others who will go on to enrich society with their creativity. After all, after a hard day's work, how many of us sit down to relax or regenerate by reflecting on the marvel of a new flyover or heart bypass procedure.
I confess that I must agree with Zeuhl on one point. Why should a B.Sc.be free when you have to pay for a B.A.? I am all in favour of ditching Mickey Mouse degrees, but History , English Literature and the Classics have a noble tradition in our educational system.
Indeed BA

admittedly we have more than enough 'Media Studies' graduates but 'the Media' in its widest sense is one of our major industries and exporters and the over-supply in many subject areas is more to do with the questionable strategy of sending half the population to Uni regardless of what they do there.

There is a whiff of dubious populism in some of this and the implication that engineers are important and artists aren't is a dodgy notion
"on the condition that they live, work and pay tax in the UK for five years after the completion of their degrees"

Is this not a bit creepy?
Also, will they prosecute people who take an attractive job offer/take advantage of an opportunity outside of the UK?
Apparently you can now get a degree in 'Travel and Tourism'. Where is the intellectual rigour in that?
UKIP want to bring back smoking in pubs and also fox hunting, apparently with areas voting on these issues and pub landlords don't have to allow smoking if they don't want to.

Notwithstanding their other 'policies', I still say that they are Tories under another name and like the other parties can say what they wish before election, then renage when they're in power.

Will not be voting for them.
It is your right and privilege not to vote for them, Marje, but plenty of others will.
we know they haven't reneged on any policies yet.

No, no, no...

AOG quite clearly 'cheated' by doing a cut and paste job from the UKIP website.

AOG - you shout hang your head in shame. I am abhorred at your deception.

(I'm not really...I just wanted to use the word 'abhorred' today).
Yes Blackadder they will, but from what I've been reading the majority will only be voting UKIP because of their immigration and EU policies, nothing else.

Svejk - only because they're not in power.
exactly. As you say, we know for sure the others are liars.
sp, who is abhorring you?

What are UKIP... for?
Well in a nut shell I sincerely believe UKIP are for Great Britain and the indigenous people of Great Britain.
