It's been pretty useful in the past; keeping it, perhaps with a few tweaks, seems sensible. After all, the other side of the coin is that criminals here could run away to Europe and be far harder to bring to justice.

It does seem to be 'cementing in' the illusion that we are one big happy European nation. I can see the benefits but I'm wary of any claimed necessity of it. I think I'd like to hear/read concise arguments for & against.

Arrest here is on suspicion - and not as the police officer notoriously said in the Stephen Lawrence inquest on provable cause....

what if you upset the local magistrate's mate while on holiday in Romania. When you get back to England you get arrested by our own police and sent back on a trumped up charge.

What if you annoy the local police in the same way?

Many of the problems with the EWA seem to me to be either fixable while keeping it, or not unique to the EWA and apply just as well to local police.
