Despite being a hand wringing lefty yes I will. Millions upon millions of normal non warlike men and women were torn away from their normal peaceful lives, conscripted, fought, witnessed horrors and died to protect our country. It doesn't matter whether you agree with the politics behind those wars, that is not what a red poppy represents, it represents...
sorry AOG forgot to read the link at first. Yes another idiot who cannot see the irony that the freedom she has to wear the white poppy is down to those we wear the read poppy to remember.
I won't wear one as I rarely leave my home and it is rather pointless to sit around in the house with one attached to my clothing.
I donate regularly via Direct debit to the British Legion so feel I have given my support to the best of my ability for several years.
I don't normally wear a poppy myself but that's primarily out of laziness rather than anything else. I always observe the silence and use it wisely. I don't need to prove that to the world; but if I get a chance I'll donate/ buy/ wear a poppy. The argument in the link is hardly original and I still don't agree with it.
Methyl, do you really believe that Adolf Hitler would have changed his policy towards the Jews after listening to the views of the White Poppy brigade ?
Yes I will and a red one at that. If she (or is that a he) thinks the first world war started a century of wars as though peace had reigned until then clearly knows zilch about history.
the 2 biggest causes of war? pacifism and religion! You see all this white poppy pony misses the point. It is necessary to fight against tyranny, would these plonkers just defer to the invaders and hope they are allowed to live in peace?
