Millions upon millions of normal non warlike men and women were torn away from their normal peaceful lives, conscripted, fought, witnessed horrors and died to protect our country. It doesn't matter whether you agree with the politics behind those wars, that is not what a red poppy represents, it represents...

Methyl...while I support your views generally on UKIP, to describe Hitler as not a policy maker is flying in the face of credulity. He was absolutely at the centre of everything that the Nazi Party did, and when Hindenburg died, he made his move and became Dictator. Without Hitler, it can be strongly argued that WW2 may not have happened, at least with the severity that it did.

Very true jack. I always make sure that I watch the parade on Remembrance Sunday. I feel a great pride every year.
I remember a couple of years ago, when I saw the children of British service personal that had died in recent wars, marching along with all the old soldiers...brought a tear to eye, I don't mind admitting.

TTT - my poppy, too, is several years old.
There don't seem to be the number of boxes around these days that there used to be. So I pin my poppy to my jacket and then make sure that I put a few coins in each and every box I see, but at least I make sure I am wearing a poppy...
