Our local news programme last night featured a story about a girl who managed to pass her GCSEs despite having a baby around exam time. The story had a congratulatory 'didn't she do well' light-hearted tone, which I found disturbing. I'm not saying her acheivements shouldn't be acknowledged but to make it seem like she was more special than her classmates, who managed to take their GCSEs without getting knocked up, seemed wrong. Plus, should we really be celebrating a 15/16 year old who knows nothing about abstinence, safe sex or contraception?

Nope I didn't answer my own question, I said I thought there were actually no point in posting since you will not compare Britain to any country to another, and only tried to give you an overview of the length of some of violence related prison sentence, to see if you had something to say about that after your assumption about Danish prison sentences.

But since we now both said it many times: You're not interested in hearing/discussing other than British experiences, I'll just close the debate from my part here.

What a lovely person you sound Ward-minter...so it would appear in your world we have a choice...put up with the current situation of yobs. Or have them shot and replaced by jingoistic bullies such as yourself.

However...I think this thread has digressed....so back to the subject in hand...whilst I think it is refreshing that she chose to go back to school I don't think that the press should awarding her with coverage.
