All cars have brakes Gavmacp, but that doesnt stop accidents on the roads or on the race track. No excuse. He was lucky in that he didnt cause an accident or injury. For those who think it is a jolly jape and perhaps they will try it maybe the prison sentence will make them think again.
I think the length of the sentence is designed to discourage any other 'boy racers' from emulating this stupid prank.
I can appreciate the visul humour, but, as sp1814 says, when you combine that with this muppet's ignoring of his girlfriend's distress - sufficient to induce a panic attack requiring medical attention - and is lack of understanding of, and remorse for his actions, it looks a lot less amusing.
