Have I missed something here ? If the Council can be so certain that there are 132 kids at risk from sexual exploitation, why has it not moved to protect them ? Shouldn't the Police and Social Services be running around the city as I type, rounding them up and taking them to a place of safety ?

See this BBC Wales news link ::::

This monster lives about 7 miles from me. This man has been dealt 34 years after the offences took place. But I don't want to wait another 30 years for the children that are being abused today and yesterday to see justice.

Because I am not convinced that everybody to do with this case, and their successors who are still working in the area, have learned any lessons whatsoever. Because this time next year, we will have another sex abuse scandal on our hands, in my area and all around Britain.

This is a chilling extract from the BBC LInk, from one of his victims ::::

"No-one could say anything against him in those days, he was a champion of fostering. And no-one was going to believe what I had to say."

Mrs May has said recently the sexual abuse of children is rife in Britain today...not 30, or 40, or 50 years ago...today. So what are we to do as a society about it ? If a few children have to be locked up to prevent them from being raped, so be it.
I am convinced that it is easier for children to report that sort of abuse that is happening to them NOW, unlike 30 years or more ago.

There are 15 secure childrens' centres in England and Wales and none have any spaces at all. One centre will have places from the 11th of December.

These are fantastic places and of course those involved have to go through hoops to get children referred:

The problem I have with them is that some of the children will be there because of criminal behaviour and others for their own protection. Once again you have victims being treated as criminals which can never be a good thing.

HC...I agree that this is a difficult problem. But if there aren't enough centres, lets build more ! Political will is all that is required.

Perhaps you are right....I hope children are being listened to these days, as they weren't years ago.

When I was 14 I went to a rather rough Secondary School here in Swansea. I won't name it but its nick-name was Beirut Comp in the 60's !

We had a games master who personally lined all the boys up against the bars and looked to see if we were wearing underpants under our gym shorts, which, for some reason was considered to a heinous sin at the school. I wasn't terribly happy about this and told my father about it, and all he could suggest is that I wear swimming trunks underneath, as these WERE allowed. I think he was as embarrassed as I was by the whole affair !

I notice that this Teacher didn't inspect any of the bigger boys, the ones that played for the school rugger Team...they were built of rather larger and sterner stuff than me !
