Why Does This Sort Of Thing Happen Over And Over Again, When A Certain Community Doesn't Agree With A Lawful Decision?

Clanad: I'm pretty sure that most would agree that shooting an unarmed man 6 times isn't really what you want the state or individuals working for the state to be doing?
I'm not anti-US, "pot-stirring" or denying the right to safety of those serving the public - I think that might be reading into my single line statement a little too much?
Equally, it might have been too simple a statement for such an emotive issue.

Obviously, the reaction to events such as the one being discussed depends to a great extent upon where they occur. AOG posted about one which occurred in the still racially divided hot-bed of the Deep South of the USA. The following, which to me is much more indicative of police abuse, happened on the laid-back street of Toronto and barely gathered any coverage at all, except locally. http://

Please forgive me if I am wrong, but did you mean to say "another racist white cover-up"?
Because if you did that is precisely what the problem seems to be i.e. a black person gets apprehended, arrested, physically restrained or indeed shot by a white policeman, and he is immediately classed as racist and any inquiry that goes against the black person and once again it is classed as a white cover-up.

I think you will find that certain members of the black community seem to hold the record when it comes to this kind of thing, the large riot and looting that took place here in the UK and then there was the gang who set fire and killed innocent members of an Asian family?

I may be wrong in saying this but I don't think that technically the police officer concerned has been "completely exonerated of blame". More accurately, surely, they decided that there was not enough evidence to press charges. Very different thing, that -- and while I'm not saying I think he did it, I can understand why people might feel that there is still at least a moral case to answer.
I can't see that the Grand Jury can have reached any other decision, based on the evidence presented, that was unreliable at best and perhaps even contained a few downright lies. Still, while this one case may have had nothing wrong it's obvious that there is much to do before the Police in the US win back the trust of the public.

I definitely wouldn't start burning police cars, looting and setting fire to buildings, that's for sure.
There are legal channels one can go through that is why we have laws and a judicial system, without them we have mob rule as in this case.

Yes, that is exactly what I said, and meant.
If you re-read my post, you will see that I cited this as the 'emotional' reaction to the incident, and by definition, that reaction is not reasoned, valid, or necessarily correct - it is sim;ly that - an emotional reaction - to which we are all prone from time to time.
The problem is, with the history of unequal treatment meted out to African Americans for the last sixty years by the powers of the state, their emotional reaction tends to run along seriously well-worn lines.
