Surely, even the warped version if Islam that the Taliban subscribe to cannot justify the Peshawar masacre. Is there someone out there who can explain the thinking behind this? I am totally mystified.
As always with these discussions there is some considerable confusion here solely because the western intellect continually fails to comprehend a mind-set that is driven wholly by religion. Islam dictates every aspect of a fundamentalist Muslim’s life – it even instructs on how to go to the toilet! The latest atrocity in Pakistan took place at a...
"Whoever kills a person it is as if that person killed all of humankind. " - ok but given the amount of murder the ROP carries out there must surely be an "except......" clause somewhere.
Tora,
I worked in Abu Dhabi for 11 years, our cook had an English version of the Koran which he lent me.
I only read some of it, but it was really scary, and there was things like, ''if you didn't attend Friday prayers more than twice, Allah would burn your house down, with your family inside''!
I doubt it is religion related. It is an act of aggression against the authorities, particularly the military, in an attempt to feel powerful and demoralise the troops. It's a power play; an act of terrorism for it's own sake.
The Taliban consider themselves to be good and righteous Muslims. Therefore whatever they do, because it is sanctioned by Allah, in the Koran, *must* be permissible/acceptable.
They target 'the enemies of Islam' and expect to get their reward in heaven.
OG has it right here. Religion isn't the driving force behind this,.....its power politics in its rawest form. These people are extremists and extremists don't use cogent, rational arguments.
Ah.....but these Taliban 'soldiers' have already decided that the children are *not* innocent (sins of the fathers and all that).....and neither were any of the teachers.
It must be difficult to concentrate on what's being said to you in any attempt at reasonable debate or discussion when there's a constant 'allahu akhbar' playing on a loop in your head.
Just like the Christians massacred many people in Africa and the Americas in the name of God, it isn't really about religion.
The grab for an Islamic State is about power, influence and money, nothing to do with Islam.
Most of the victims are fellow islamists. They may claim they are dying for Allah, but really they are trying to steal land and many people will become wealthy if they succeed.
It is wrong to say Pakistanis are Muslim. It is true the majority are but there is approximately 2.5 million Christians in Pakistan and they have some beautiful churches.

Maybe religion's not the reason for the cynical leaders behind this sort of thing, but they have to have something to persuade the retards that go off and do the killing (and dying), that it's the right thing to be doing, and they couldn't do that without the religion.
