Apologies for new thread but I thought it easier, given there are several others.
Thunderflashes and gunfire heard at both locations where hostages are being held, one hopes for a safe outcome for them but that remains to be seen.

Apparently the brothers came out attacking the security services, and were killed. It would have endangered the hostages in the supermarket not to concluded both operations at the same time, so the order was given to go in there.
Text book response from the French Security Service and a successful conclusion.

Still no news on the female. One wonders if she was even present at the supermarket and may still be at large.

That is on Freeview. Every UK TV has access to the BBC News channel.
freeview doesn't work here gromit, the area is in a coverage blackspot. I only have cable.
BBC news 24 is 601 for us.
Mushroom...get it up on the internet from the BBC site. You can watch live.
just glad it's over. no doubt the details will follow soon.
It now appears that 4 hostages died.

One of the terrorists apparently escaped, possibly the woman.
How would the the UK cope with the same situation,????

Not my usual tipple but I will raise my glass of French brandy (Left over from ho ho ho) to our gallant colleagues in the CRS. Raise mon chapeau aussi. Very very sad that there was collateral innocent fatalities but a professional demonstration that this filths evil doctrine will not prevail.
When the adrenalin rush has diminished and the debrief is over I hope that a few vineyard owners in the Champagne region will be despatching a few lorries of their produce down the autoroute to the CRS HQ in France.
Shame that some ABers would like to take the *** out of these gallant MEN on this site. I also hope that the Prophet Mohammed (Insulin) has extra boxes of virgins for his forthcoming martys. Sante mon braves.

No one took the *** out of the CRS. I posted footage of some policemen trying to climb a slippery hill. It was a comic moment during a very tense situation.

And why do you use stupid terminology like " collateral innocent fatalities " ? Why can you not say, it was sad that some hostages were killed?

Divebuddy,
Someone has read too many Andy McNab books for their own good.

I return to the thread with the news that it was indeed too good to be true as feared and it appears that 4 innocents were killed upon the gunman entering the supermarket.
Apparently there were children present, but thankully none were harmed.

PP,
ECM's are Electronic Counter Measures.
It was news about 6 o'clock last night for us Twitter followers. ;-)

Indeed it was Zacs, I'm just making my first post since, as I was elsewhere last night and unable to contribute further.
Still, you managed to get in an emoticon into your post, which is nice. Enjoy yourself in the Tw@ttersphere.
