/// 'Were you in The Parade (in Oadby) this morning? Did you see anyone matching his description or do you have information about the incident? ///

Man/woman dressed in a Burka in Leicester, it will be like looking for a needle in a haystack.

Gromit, you are the first to imply racism. That’s not good. This is a discussion about one section of society, the members of which are completely unidentifiable – regardless of how many CCTV cameras are in use. //It is snowing outside, would covering my face with a scarf be illegal? I see plenty of people wearing Parka coats that obscure the face, again no...

Naomi,
Would you ban these?

http://i.telegraph.co.uk/multimedia/archive/02332/B0XKYJ_2332713b.jpg

I wouldn't. But it really is in-necessary, alien to our culture, and divisive. Why can they not were a baggy T-Shirt and tracky bottoms like everyone else?
Are you going to stop vicars wearing dresses, too?
Ban no......but the fashion police should definitely have a word
At least they are practicing equality!
Gromit, //Naomi, Would you ban these? //

No, I wouldn't. I think you're getting confused. The people in your link aren't concealing their faces.
Boxy, //Are you going to stop vicars wearing dresses, too? //

Is that addressed to me?
By that logic, tonyav, we should ban people from wearing padded jackets and carrying rucksacks - the 'uniform' of the suicide bomber.
Women historically have been used in suicide bombings and singular operations.”

Maybe a burka also, hc4361.
Naomi,
I do not personally approve of the Burka. But there are plenty of instances I can encounter people whose faces I cannot see. I don't think concealing your face should be a criminal offence.
Concealing your face does seem suspicious from a criminality angle, but not from a traditional/supposedly religious reason.

I have a friend who works on CCTV, and he monitors lots of people up to no good. They cover their faces with their hands. Using this failed bank raid to support a burka ban is ridiculous.
I will take it as a 'no' then Gromit!
Isn't strange how a serious post get's ridiculed with some stupid answers? the O.P. deals with the protection / security / of this Country which has been broken by the some of the said Religion, did these women come through the Boarder Control covered up? I doubt It, no-one should be permitted to enter a bank or any place that security is breached, France made the law, if the persons in Question" and ONLY the persons in question went against this law they paid the price. I honestly can not see an Issue after all, it's your safety that we are talking about, or are the persons who mocked the OP blind to what could / is happening.
Gromit, I’ve given my reasons for supporting a ban – but if you want to talk about criminals see my post at 12:30 today. Look!! No hands!!
At least if they're covering their faces with their hands, they're not holding a Kalashnikov.
From the Link,

//I’ve seen distressed grey-haired pensioners being patted down intimately and forced to empty all their belongings out of their hand luggage.//

//Meanwhile, women in full burkas are waved through with a cheery: ‘Have a nice flight.//

Oops, apologies for duplication!
Yes, ALL face covering should be banned in public. Am hoping shops refuse to serve the face copouts. Hiding your face puts you under suspicion for theft & felony and defeats the point of cctv.

If collectivly, we ALL hide our faces next Friday the message will hit home.....pass it on ;)
I'm backtracking on this thread to ask:

"...and if you were a female you wouldn't be allowed to wear a topless dress as some do in tropical countries" so said AOG a few posts back.

Is there a law in any part of the UK that forbids women wearing a topless dress in public?
Why would anyone ask a couple of strangers the price of something in a shop? Totally bizarre excuse! I'm surprised the women didn't call security about Talbot's harassment.
