...and don't forget poor old Mary Ann Cotton, hanged in 1873 for murdering her husbands and children one by one so she could collect the insurance. Google her, she became a demonised figure in my part of the world; children used to have a skipping rhyme about her.

The LibDems (for it is they) appear to be saying that half the women in prison are sick, not criminals, and therefore should not be in prison. That possibly may be true, we would need to see medical records in each case.

But I suspect many of the men in prison are also there because of underlining medical reasons. To single out the women only is discriminatory.

I do wonder at the thought process that goes from the LibDems saying there are too many women in prison who are sick, not criminals, to the Liberals want to pardon child serial killers.

Depending on how you define sick, all antisocial folk are sick.
Society, however, can not let everyone do as they please simply because they can't help being themselves. Freedom of action where possible, but excesses need to be dealt with.
