Yes, agree with you Grumpy. Reminds me of this excellent piece by the esteemed BBC Security Correspondent Frank Gardner:-

What would you like them to do that they're not already doing?
Trident ....
A few of them, Dave.
When murderers capture people they murder them. What's good is that the Japanese govt didn't pay anything.

If you don't want to be murdered, don't go to a a place that's well known to be overrun with murderers.
As pointed out, it is difficult to do much to scumbags in a foreign country. Even if you wish to infiltrate their group you need someone who won't stick out like a sore thumb. Probably need a turncoat, but how likely is that among these murderous cowards ?
Time to hire the formidable French Foreign Legion.

Irony........Japanese government outraged by the beheading.

In WW2....beheading of allied prisoners by the Japanese was a daily occurrence.
I have a lot of sympathy for the family but I believe the man in question was dealing in arms in a highly volatile theatre of war. Live by (selling) the sword and die by the sword.
My apologies, he was a freelance journo.
why do peole go to these places knowing the risks ? and Sqad is quite right Japanese were responsible for similar atrocities....
It was his friend who was a 'military consultant' whom he was trying to rescue.
I don't know why they don't release the said woman scum from Jordan and let her go back.

After having knocked her out surreptitiously and wired in a few tracking chips....possibly some polonium as well.
and then use Dave's solution.....
DT, there have been many many threads on here which point out (and are the reason) why bombing them only serves to make martyrs of the collateral damage which IS and The like use as a recruiting tool. It's a bit like when Micky mouse got that spell wrong in Disney's The sorcerers apprentice and the mops kept multiplying.
Sorry....
Are the reason why it's not been done
well yes I agree, but they do need to have a nice operation(s) to take the central command out and a wee bit of such tracking might be useful.
I'm sure combined and independent forces are at work as we debate, to try and tackle such things. There's so much harsh territory to hide in, it's obviously very difficult to track the b......s down.
Not all politicians it would seem, just the UK and the US, it's a wonder that Cameron has not offered Japan financial help.

And why are the rest so quite, United Nations, Nato, and the EU?

/// Britain stands united with Japan at this tragic time and we will do all we can to hunt down these murderers and bring them to justice, however long it takes. ///

/// The United States strongly condemns ISIL's actions and we call for the immediate release of all remaining hostages. We stand in solidarity with our ally Japan.” ///
