While I am glad that the Police are finally taking this issue seriously, it is threatening to overwhelm them, together with Courts system. And this is happenings at a time when savage cuts are being applied to Police forces all over the country.
25 were charged yesterday for offences in Calderdale. (Halifax Courier has details). Anything useful they may contribute is swamped by their activites and the police time and money used, not to mention the damage caused to victims. This is not to pre-judge a trial, but the numbers involved suggest that the police are pretty sure of their ground.
Mikey, //it is threatening to overwhelm them, together with Courts system. And this is happenings at a time when savage cuts are being applied to Police forces all over the country. //
I read the link but I didn't see that bit. The police seem to be doing a good job. Spinning again, Mikey?
Not spinning at all, but broadening the debate. Why do you have to be so rude and dismissive ?
This issue has been reported on a regular basis by Police Forces all over the country. Next time I see a new media link, I will put it up on here for you to read.
In the mean time, here is a Guardian article from last July ::
Mikey, your accusation of rudeness is a ploy because you don’t like being pulled up on your disingenuous posts. There has been no mention of the police being overwhelmed, as you claim, in dealing with the cases in question and the links you posted don’t relate specifically to those. It seems to me the police are doing a fairly decent job, so please stop politicising everything and give a little credit where credit is due, eh?
Allegedly apart from the sexual offences there were a lot of drugs involved in the Newcastle charges. Could that be a more important priority in their culture rather than getting a job? Strange priorities in my view.
What is wrong today? So many men involved , so many sex assaults, men's respect for women no longer exists in some areas, what will bring about a change or what has brought about the change?
naomi
Yes the accusation of rudeness or vitriol always comes up when this particular ABer is challenged. Put up or shut up. Nice to see you are not constantly knocking the police for their very difficult challenges and sensitive issues they have to face. Particularly those who are easily offended when it is pointed out that almost all of the suspects do not have good old English names .Still we can be assured that if you read the book, "Smile for the Camera" which we are urged to read and is always trotted out on matters to do with this subject we can see that Cyril Smith was British and white. So that makes it all right then. No further criticism apart from against the police of course
May be "the man in the know" might have a comment a little later and claim that due to the invaluable knowledge he has gained and passed on to the Northumbria Police, as is his public duty, these arrests have been made!!
It is heartening to see that something is being done at last, the events in South Yorkshire so far seems unreported. Hopefully now Rotherham Council officers and the Police Commissioner are being sacked we should see that cleaned up too. It makes me sick to think that those men are just being jailed i wish they could deport them all sans family jewels.
