If a thing is -actually- banned, it will be in writing somewhere, you could quote that or show us a photo and we'd have no choice but to accept your point.
If you'd couched it in softened terms like "effectively banned", then I'd agree with you entirely.
But then it would have been a much shorter thread ;-)
Er, it says so in the link and the council spokesman defends it. What kind of picture do you expect me to put up. Peppa Pig with a big cross through it ?
Dictatorial decision not to provide something is still not a 'ban' on it.
You do recall I'm a pedantic old sod, don't you? I'm only splitting hairs. Can we please return to normality and have you winding me up? This gives me no joy.
The jewish people have been here far longer than muslims, they have also integrated fully into british society, pork was never taken off the school menu to accommodate them, they would not have wanted it.
THECORBYLOON /// SVEJK , if any primary school wants to serve pork the council will work with them to arrange it///
Translation from Newspeak;
If any head-teacher feels strongly enough about this to defy council policy and stick their head above the parapet,,,we'll take a very keen interest in your future career prospects.
Common sense dictates that it would be courting highly unwelcome controversy for authorities to admit that pork has been banned from school menus. They just take it off and make the right noises with regard to its possible reinstatement. I doubt very much that any school would request its return – in view of the high numbers of Muslim children within some of our schools its absence makes life easier for the caterers and creates less hassle for the teachers.
