Well, there is such a thing as 'inverted snobbery' and I guess this situation counts as 'inverted racism'. Except, of course, it's just racism. Turning the tables on those who usually perpetrate racism doesn't stop it being what it is. What is in the film that they don't want the white students to see?

I suppose. I did wonder should this be in News, just because it's news to me. What should it be under, does anyone think?

I suspect I wouldn't be too keen on it, hypno. ;)
Possibly evidence that people of the rainbow nation are just as capable of bigotry and racism as the despised whitey.
Surely if it addressed to white people (Dear White People) then it should only be shown to white audiences.

Storyline

IMBd
A social satire that follows the stories of four black students at an Ivy League college where controversy breaks out over a popular but offensive black-face party thrown by white students. With tongue planted firmly in cheek, the film explores racial identity in acutely-not-post-racial America while weaving a universal story of forging one's unique path in the world.

White students can of course watch it.

Of course, in the same way that Rosa Parks could have sat on a different seat.
I don't find it racist but is a bit upsucking (assuming the organisers are not all BME). But as said already, students will explore every nook and cranny of society for causes, it's par for the course.
Thanks, Talbot.

I'd guess the Ivy League crowd can look down their noses at most classes of white people too and not have to care what people think of them because they'll be advantaged for the rest of their lives and only mixing with other people like themselves.

Even if we do stamp out the racist attitudes, there will still be class snobbery to overcome.

'BME only'. They used to put signs like that on park benches in South Africa.
