It's 'dog eat dog' everywhere these days
I hate the dog show circuit! Whilst we show our hounds occasionally, I however would never put a foot in the show ring myself. Its corrupt and more emphasis is placed on the dog owner than the dog.
Some years ago there was a TV documentary about cruffts judges taking back handers from dog owners. IMHO, nothing has changed!
They should show cats in a similar way - it would be total and utter bedlam. Then there would be no more shows.

I think that much damage has been done to many breeds to 'perfect' them and it is the poor dogs who suffer.

But many dogs and their owners enjoy the shows and the socialising but I sometimes feel that it is all too serious.
Bloody German Shepard's...coming over here taking our dogs jobs!

I like Dogs generally, but I am a little wary of Dobermans and Bull Terriers does that make me Dogist, or dogaphobic?
Talbot,
German Shepherds.French Poodles, Daschunds et al have, under the Convention of Canine Rights free access of movement and can be working dogs as well if they bark from the EU and bring their own chips.
It is the Afghan Hounds,in particular, and the Rhodesian Ridgebacks we have to guard against crossing under the Border (collie)!!!
Considering your avatar, AOG, how can you be dogaphobic?
I think the general 'amateur' atmosphere of Crufts has been taken over by the influx of foreign dogs, and it disturbs the cosy 'Britishness' that a lot of UK breeders appreciate.

That said, if the rules allow foreign dogs, then they are entitled to compete, and there is little that UK breeders can do about it.

I don't think you are 'Dogist' AOG, I think that's an entirely different form of recreation. (Ooo-er!!!)

I am not phobic to all dogs especially the Bull Dog which is one of my favourites.

Most of you are paying far too much attention to the 'DOG' world part of my thread, try making a comparison with 'HUMAN' world.

But then I think most of you have already done so but would rather ignore that particular aspect.
AOG - "Most of you are paying far too much attention to the 'DOG' world part of my thread, try making a comparison with 'HUMAN' world."

Yes your comparison reference was not lost on me AOG, but I am steering away from that for today - will be back in full debate mode in the morning.
I though all do people liked all other dog people, no matter what nationality.
Your deep thinking has got me yet again, AOG.

What are you talking about?
AOG
I expect you can't decide if you like Dalmatians or not.
I think I can perfectly understand what you are saying in the title. As you say people are steering away from that comparison.
We are, because we'd rather talk about dogs. (Well, I would ;-))

I can, just like some opponents on here, they never change their spots you know.
is this racism.....?
As Woody Allen once said about show business :::::

“This business is dog-eat-dog. It's worse than dog-eat-dog, it's dog-doesn't-return-other-dog's-phone-calls.”

The BBC exposed Crufts and the KC a few years ago, for what they are really worth. Self serving shysters, all of them. I have no sympathy whatsoever.
