I wonder if a certain J Savile was suspected as well, before the Queen did her bit with the sword ?

Thatcher was largely to blame for Savile being able to get away with his abuse , it was she who created the post of 'Director of Fundraising' specifically for Savile see my posts at 08.13 and 08.24 on Fri 27th in this thread

This post gave Savile the same status as the other paid directors and made him virtually 'untouchable' . Until he got this 'director ' status his abuse was relatively minor, this gave him the opportunity to do whatever he cared to do with impunity.

When this sort of thing happens in the so-called "establishment", I can't help wondering if Freemasonry had anything to do with it. Funny handshakes, and all that.
Otherwise it must be part of the "it's-too-messy-and-complicated-and-embarrassing-to-deal-with-properly,-let's-just-turn-a-blind-eye-and-hope- it-and-the-victims-go-away-and-shut-up" syndrome.
There was an awful lot of it about.

Don’t you just love the fact that his lordship’s warning to Mrs Thatcher was not that Smith was a serial sex abuser, but that if it came out, the honours system would be tainted – and so would she by association.
Never let self-preservation and devotion to the snobbery of the honours system get in the way of stopping a child abuser.
My disgust for all of them is boundless.

Labour Councillor interferes with kids. Goes on to be Liberal MP and nominated for Knighthood by Liberal Leader. Awards committee chaired by Labour Peer recommends peerage goes ahead.
Fatcher's Fault.
Yeah right. Despite the fact it's unheard of for a PM to veto an award that's been nominated by another party and passed by the very committee whose job it is to investigate the recipient's suitability.
