Should Former Police Chief David Duckenfield Be Stripped Of His Police Pension?
He won't face charges for this (as he has health issues) , but he should be stripped of his police pension at the very least.

This man lied for over 25 years why should be unpunished. Your reply is so wrong on many levels. Its like telling the vicitms of Auchwitz and Belsen to 'get over it' because it happened over 70 years ago.
Certainly not.
Many people make mistakes during the course their work. Of course mistakes made by people in some professions (doctors, police officers, airline pilots immediately spring to mind) can have far more tragic consequences than most.
However, that is no reason to strip them of their pensions. A pension is not a reward for a mistake-free career. It is an agreed payout for which both employees and employers have contributed, usually substantially.

Very humane thought BC
unfortunately they can't
I think a few of them have insight - they should look forward and not back,
and I think they would answer - we can't
Most people would say that if D had been able to say that - he had opened the gates and precipitated the deaths instead of implying the crowd threw themselves on the spikes - it all would have been different
I have to say I wasnt expecting D to say - well actually I lied....
It is not that 98 deaths have wrecked 98 or so families lives
it is the lying and misleading that went into operation directly afterwards that has caused the injury
people who were there to ensure safety, failed to do so and lied to cover their asses

>>>The consequences of a criminal conviction (if that is achieved) do not include the forfeiture of one's pension, DTC

He made a mistake on the day and should have held his hands up at the time and said sorry. what is unforgivable is that he has lied about it all these years, causing more pain for the families and tarnishing the name of the fans by saying they forced their way in. He should be punished for that. I don't know what the health issues are that mean he won't be charged.

En Jay En Jay come on - come on
Policemen can be dismissed and lose pension rights
and so can Doctors .... Dr Shipman lost his pension by a stroke of the minister's pen and he got into this odd bind that if he reached pensionable age both he and Mrs S would lose the pension, but she wouldnt if she were already a widow .... so he suicided

// The match commander on the day of the Hillsborough disaster has admitted he lied about fans forcing an exit gate open to enter the ground.
Relatives of the 96 fans who died gasped as David Duckenfield told the new inquests: "I apologise unreservedly". //
It is a diabolical admission, but I would think the cover-up and lies were not instigated by this man. The decision to deny all culpability came from much higher up, Chief, Constable, and Government level. I do not blame him for hiding the truth, so no, he should keep his pension despite this blot on his record.
