SP......The bit I just fail to understand, is that the more stupid UKIP becomes, the better they are doing in the Polls !

When you consider all the daft things that UKIP people have said and done over the last few years, you would have thought the Party would be about as popular the Monster Raving Loony Party.

Remember Ashley Mole, Tom Wise and Neil Hamilton ? Remember David Silvester, who said the floods in Somerset last year were caused by same-sex weddings ? The list is endless. We even had people on here this week supporting Farage when he said that if he won the Election, he would repeal our anti discrimination laws.

The old adage about not being able to fool most of the people, most of time, seems not to apply to UKIP. There must be an invisible teflon coating somewhere.

I did not say he was a stupid old git merely that in the same way there were objections to the name used by David Coburn, there would be an objection to the phrase that I used. The fact that they both roll off the tongue does not make either of them right, especially since the name used by Mr Coburn is that of a man convicted of terrorist-related crimes.

In this instance, no newspaper has exaggerated anything. They've simply reported what the UKIP MEP said in a telephone interview.

youngmafbog - too many times we hear UKIP supporters refer to the metropolitan elite, and now you have mentioned 'right on' votes.

What you need to understand is that it's a lot more complex than that. There are millions of ordinary people who share my views on UKIP and their policies and there is absolutely nothing wrong in critiquing them. We should be free to challenge our elected representatives whenever we want. My taxes go to pay for these public servants, so in my opinion, I should be free to criticism them as often as I wish...in the same way that others criticise the Tories, Labour, LibDems and Greens.

The leadership of the party who wrote the 2010 UKIP election manifesto are still in place.

It was drivel (according to Nigel Farage), and I judge a party on what they stand for. As the people who wrote that garbage are still in powerful positions, I think it's fair to regard the party as a whole, the the fruit loops who regularly make the press with a justifiable degree of contempt.
