This was always touted as some kind of urban myth but it seems that it is true. Waitrose aids and abets the already too high house inflation problem. So first time buyers will find it even more difficult to but a home. And they will have to pay more for their weekly shop !

Look for a home near an Lidl would seem to be the answer.

Ah .....apologies then Tony...in my day, only boys that failed the 11+ went to Secondary Moderns.

Actually, there were some that passed but still didn't go to the Grammar School because their parents couldn't afford the school uniform.
And their were some that chose not to go because all of their pals was'nt.

Very true Tony.....what a truly wonderful thing Grammar Schools were !
Mikey, your response to Tony makes no sense. He says he chose to reject a place at Grammar school, so hardly the school's fault. I think you’re suffering from a severe case of sour grapes.

As for the cost of uniforms, mine was second-hand. That said every Comprehensive that I’m aware of requires students to wear uniform. How on earth do people cope?

I had to wear a uniform when I started secondary school, naomi.
When I passed the 11 plus there was a family debate as my parents couldn't afford the uniform, besides the norm there was indoor shoes and outdoor shoes, gym kit, hockey kit and tennis kit. My nan and 2 of my uncles paid for it...
Tony, I've no doubt you did. Mikey's sour grapes don't wash.
