How can they possibly know for certain at their age? They are nowhere near puberty yet. The whole thing is ridiculous.

I suppose you'll never know unless you're transgender.
The programme the other night with Louis Theroux on this topic (USA based) was very interesting on all sorts of levels.
They know, Dave....believe me......☺
I dont think it is ridiculous, I think these children just need to be allowed to develop naturally without being steered in any direction. Many transgender children will grow up with huge emotional problems if pushed one way or another, there are many transgender suicides because they grow to be ashamed or so embarrassed to "come out" I think if they can be helped to identify themselves at an early age I think it will be a very positive thing.
At least we can't say they're doing it for career purposes. (t.i.c.)

I have a transgender nephew to niece and I know another transgender female, the female I know attempted suicide three times before she got help, she now lives a relatively happy life knowing who she really is, unfortunately being brought up in the wrong body has left many scars.
The attitude of the narrow minded and judging leaves scars too, Ratter...x

dave50, from your emphatic opinion I am assuming that you have specialist or personal knowledge or both?

^Thank goodness the site's resident trained psychologist, etc. has turned up....

Where would be be without him?
*we be...
well it seems we are not allowed to think it's all a bit silly!
Because it's not silly. It's real.
Oh...and you didn't put it very politely either.

Those were the biggest problems she had, all the whispering and back stabbing and stupid remarks.
there are some subjects that I find so disturbing that the mere mention just illicits a dismissive response, no offence intended, except to those that stir up this silliness.
Of course you are allowed to think the subject 'silly' and you are allowed to say so (but you were, as ever, rather more blunt than that), it would be a nice change for you to have explained quite 'why' you feel it to be so rather than dismissing it out of hand because it doesn't fit into your narrow world view.

There are more things in Heaven and Earth, TGT, than are dreamed of in your philosophy...
If you intend not to offend perhaps keep your dismissive responses to yourself and be polite with your opinion.
Why, TTT? I really cannot understand why things bother people when it has no effect on their life whatsoever.

If my boy wanted to be a girl I'd let him get on with it.
