Nicola Sturgeon
I have heard Wee Nicky being interviewed by James Naughtie on the Today Program.
To be frank, I thought she gave a very good account of herself and her party, so is it any wonder that the SNP is doing so well north of the border ?

Frankly AOG, the biggest damage done to the UK has been from the Conservative s who, since some time in the mid 1980s, have been squeezed out of Scotland and subsequently turned their backs on it entirely. Now they are compounding the error by not even trying to take on Sturgeon and the SNP politically but in bigging them up while simultaneous ly attempting to...

It is only a few short months since the Conservatives, Labour, and Liberals, were on the stump and sharing platforms in Scotland, pleading the "Better Together" programme at the Referendum.
"Please stay, Scotland" etc. Then turned their respective backs on their promises to the people of Scotland.
Do not wonder at the surge of support for the SNP.

Fair comment Pete65 if that is your inclination. Nicola is great but I hope the canny Scots will vote Labour rather than SNP - that would let the Tories in so they can continue to bash the old, weak and poor. I'm no convert mikey, just consistent Labour but congrats on your question and choice of Best Answer. Well said jim. Allegedly we have a representative government system so I am against referenda. Millibrand got it right in saying we have more important problems than an EU referendum - leaving the EU would sink us economically.

You earlier scoffed that the Tories had only one MP in Scotland, well it seems from this so will the Labour Party.

Different polls paint different pictures. However, it's hard to see the SNP not getting enough votes to win well other 30 seats, and very probably more than 40. Unless anti-SNP tactical voting occurs at a far greater level than is expected, of course.
But the Tories' wry amusement at Labour's collapse won't last too long. A Tory minority government will struggle to get going; a majority is unlikely, but if it happens then watch in horror as the UK is ripped apart.
I wouldn't be all that surprised if there's a second election within a year. I just don't see this mess sorting itself out in order to form a stable government in time for May.

Jack...I think you are correct here. I have been saying for a long time now, that most of the UKIP votes will be coming from former Tory supporters.
Some will come from the BNP and some will come from Labour, but its obvious that the bulk of UKIP support comes from disaffected Tories. After all, UKIP is stuffed with them, including Farage.
