Yes, but the unfortunate aspect of this is that he is still dead and this is unlikely to change.
Hypo...I'm sure that this not new news :::

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-surrey-26418390

His sticky tentacles stretched everywhere, it would seem.

NJ....this is the important bit :::

"This additional report has focused on what inquiries and actions were taken by Surrey Police"

We need to learn from our previous mistakes, so this can't happen again.

It seems that the Headmistress of the School has some explaining to do as well :::

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2227086/They-angels-Headmistresss-cruel-dismissal-girls-abused-Jimmy-Savile-claims-told-to.html
I notice the offences occurred an an 'Approved School'. Children there could hardly expect the same high standards of care that would have been found, in say, a public school in the area.
Sandy...Savile would have charged into Eton and abused the kids there, if there had been any girl pupils. He was a monster. Vast numbers of people, in all walks of life, just sat by and watched him get away with his crimes. Its those people that now need to account for their actions.

Mikey, Male or Female he wasn't that fussy

///Jimmy Savile's victims at Leeds general infirmary ranged from five to 75 in age and included men, women, boys and girls, an inquiry has found.///

I disagree. I think sexual abuse was more likely to happen to children who have already experienced abuse, perhaps in the form of neglect, by inadequate parents who then find themselves in the maw of the care machine.
If Savile had tried anything at a place like Eton, one thing is sure, the children would have been listened to.
Children in an approved school were already labelled as trouble makers and were less likely to be believed than Eton pupils. The likelihood is they were also less able to express themselves effectively or have supportive parents.
Sand...you are probably correct...he did tend to go for the easy kills....bedridden patients, etc.

But it still doesn't excuse all the responsible adults that knew about the abuse and then did nothing. Savile isn't the only guilty person here, by a long chalk. We can't bring him to justice but we can have a ruddy good go at dealing with all the people who did nothing.
The number of “lessons to be learned” resulting from various enquiries into the conduct of public officials (mainly, but not exclusively, the police) has reached epidemic proportions. The overriding feature of very many of these (Savile, Cyril Smith, Greville Janner, Lutfur Rahman to name but a few) is that police officers were prevented by their superiors (usually under pressure from politicians) from investigating allegations made by the public for fear of rocking various boats. Savile was seen as untouchable as was Cyril Smith. Not too sure why Janner wasn’t properly investigated long before he became allegedly too ill to stand trial. Rahman’s odious activities were not investigated because the Metropolitan Police, already branded as “institutionally racist”, are terrified to do anything in areas where high numbers of minority ethnics prevail.

The only lesson that needs to be learned in all of these examples is that the police (and the courts) should operate without fear or favour, affection or ill-will. It’s not rocket science; it does not need multitudinous enquiries to establish. It is a basic principle under which any society that calls itself civilised should operate. Launching further investigations into any matters of this type will simply tie up resources which could be better employed where the results may be of benefit.
My post at 10:50 was ironic. Children in care do, and did, deserve as good care as any other children get.
Savile's gone, but the people who helped facilitate his crimes by looking away have some explaining to do.

BBC treatment of the story describes them as "emotionally vulnerable", rather than "trouble makers". Other than that, I take the point you're making about them being less likely to be believed, hence SoVile made a bee-line for them.

I guess we're already thouroughly sickened, this just makes it worse.
Here, here Sandy !
Approved schools were for young offenders, sent there by a court, but in my view most young offenders are children with problems so are vulnerable in some ways.
HC...you are correct of course, and the Authorities just stood by and let that monster abuse the kids that were supposed to be "in care"

I am not sure what "care" means if they are more vulnerable inside this school, than they were out of it.

Cyril Smith also abused vulnerable boys from care homes, as did all the rest of the "establishment" figures that are now in the public eye. These monsters got away with their crimes, because they were allowed to do so, by the very people that should have been there to protect these kids. Its disgusting.
And it is still happening now - vulnerable youngsters in the care system being groomed by gangs of men. Thankfully this is being dealt with now.
mikey, these children weren't in those schools to be cared for. They were there to be punished and reformed.

Mikey @ 10:55, I find it hard to believe that after all your posturing about Savile you were not aware he assaulted both Male and Female Victims as confirmed by you posting:-

///Savile would have charged into Eton and abused the kids there, if there had been any girl pupils///

And his behaviour being confirmed by the link I posted @ 11:00,
I've said it before and no doubt will mention it again, you are not well informed, you do not do your homework on most subjects you rant about, and when it is pointed out to you, you vanish!
You are correct Baldric, I too have noticed this with this person,
Well said!
