What I don't really understand about UKIP is not why Farage and the rest are in politics at all. The answer there is obvious....they want to fill their boots.

No, what I find puzzling is that after 5 years of UKIP showing they are next to incapable of organising itself and getting rid of its nutters, the British people are still prepared to consider voting for them ! What worse kind of mistake, even worse than the ones that have already made, will cause those supporters to stop for a moment and think ?

The only reason for UKIP to exist is to leave the EU. The clue is in name of the Party. Given that Farage and his Party will never, ever be able to achieve that wish, what is the point of voting for them ?

I don't think they're out to fill their boots more than candidates in any other party - indeed, more than most other candidates they know they've very little hope of getting the job (it's Tories and Labour candidates who do hope to build a career out of it).

They're just on a mission. And unlike other parties, theirs seems not to have a nutcase filter. I think this is hurting them as a party, but it gives the individuals a chance to speak their mind, and one way or another this is what democracy is for.

JNO...in this case, a defence of democracy seems not to be appropriate when someone has been filmed making serious threats. That is not what democracy is supposed to be all about. I am all for free speech but its doesn't have infinite horizons.

oh, I wasn't talking about this one particularly; just the general principle that candidates should say what they believe in and let the voters judge. I trust the judgment on this one is condign.

What will actually happen in this Robert Blay's constituency?
I assume that at this stage the ballot papers have been printed and he is on them? Is he still a candidate but not representing UKIP ? Will his name be crossed off the ballot papers? Can people still vote for him or will any votes in his favor be declared void?

Same as the 2 Labour candidates last week. They remain on the ballot paper and could, in theory, be elected.
Could be worse, 15 Greek MPs ran their campaigns and were elected from prison recently.
