I do like Nigel Farage, and I think the political scene would be poorer without his input.
I expected him back in September, when the party holds new leader elections, so I am glad he is sticking around.
It is an unfortunate fact of the electoral system that Scotland has such a massive presentation for such a small proportion of the vote, and UKIP's voting numbers are not reflected in its representation in The Commons.

All the Polling companies are being hauled over the coals for not getting their predictions right, but they were dead right about UKIP.
The Party started with 2 MP's, both borrowed from the Tories and ended up with 1 MP. And Farage lost his attempt at trying to gain a Westminster seat, for the 7th time, despite being one of the highest profile politicians in Britain over the last 2-3 years.
Not a very good record is it !

Whilst I did not predict it, it makes sense.
Farage is the face of UKIP. He puts the party's case forward and criticism levelled at him personally is fairly easy to counter; even if some of the other party members tend to put their foot in in sometimes.
Not that someone else could not become the charismatic face of UKIP eventually. But it's easier to refuse the resignation and hope he agrees to continue. It may have even been a foregone conclusion ;-)
Anyway, otherwise they might get Robert Kilroy Silk back.
