This mother has every right to live in Australia with her two children. I even think it is dreadful that a court can pass judgment & tell her that she has to bring them back to the UK every year at her own expense, what if she cannot afford it ? By the same ruling if the grandparents wish to see the girls let them pay the air fare.
If my In-Laws had taken me to court for moving abroad with my children I would make it very difficult for them to see my children. If they made it known how sad they were I was going, but gave their blessing, I would do my uttermost to make sure they kept in close contact. These stupid grandparents have wasted £30K of travelling money and shot themselves well and truly in the foot.
When MrG ran off with the girl from the pea canning factory his parents....who had always been involved in our son's life.....tried their best to have our son taken away from me and into their care.
I guess they feared being shut out of their grandson's life......
Needless to say they lost in their quest to have my son, despite some very underhand behaviour.
When I decided to move to Canada I went to court to be allowed to take my son.
I made sure my son had contact with his grandparents through letters, phone calls and tapes...no internet in those days....
For his sake I put aside the awful things they had done to me.
I invited my ex in-laws to visit every six months and when we holidayed in England he stayed with them.
It's sad when grandparents can't see the grandchildren...but I don't think they have automatic rights.
Really, it doesn't take much for the adults to be grown up about it......and do what's best for the children....especially if the grandparents have been a part of their lives.
I do think these grandparents have been foolish and have done themselves no good by spending so much money....well foolishly really.....
