a very high turnout has been reported, and a landslide "yes" is being forecast in the urban areas. indeed some prominent "no" campaigners are ready to concede.

but would that necessarily guarantee an overall result in favour of gay marriage?
and, if the result isn't a "yes", will the government embark on its previously successful "neverendum" tactic until the electorate provides the right answer?
can't see why Jordy's answer was removed at all. I dare say bigotry ought to be removed, but saying you disagree with the outcome of a referendum - which is all he did - isn't bigoted. Should I be banned for disagreeing with the outcome of the last election?
I hope Jordy's answer was removed solely because of the adjective he used rather than just stating he didn't agree. I'm not sure how you can have a fair discussion on this topic if not agreeing makes you a homophobic bigot.
It was his (quite carefully considered I believe) choice of adjective that I objected to - I have no problem with him expressing his views - that is his right and I wouldn't in any way seek to prevent him doing so.
It was just the extremely offensive terminology that he used that I found so distasteful.
Some of you are being a bit obtuse IMO. Isn't it obvious that someone of Jordy's era might have some difficulty in coming to terms with things they were brought up to frown upon? it's a fact.
It's obvious indeed - my father almost certainly felt the same way - but he could/would have expressed his unhappiness and (yes) disgust without resorting to the derogatory language and imagery that was used here by the two members who had their posts removed.
Prudie......however old we are surely we have come beyond using ignorant and crass words to express our opinions?
Nobody is saying people mustn't disagree with changes in society.....but for heaven's sake don't insult those of us who are having better lives because of those changes by using ignorant and cheap words and phrases....and comparisons for that matter.
Dave very fair point I agree with. But the constant goading to escalate this argument again is incite IMO. There are posters of that era, they can't help how they feel. Some have progressed, some haven't.
I am certainly not goading. I am simply asking Jordy to further explain his views and stance on this issue, which he has done, in a very full and frank way.
Your position on gay people is well documented, jordy. So perhaps you should do yourself and your blood pressure a favour and not bother with threads of this nature.
