my personal dealings with the man were always a pleasure ..a gentleman in the true sense...please do not attack him when you did not know him..his public persona was very different to the real man ..we all ALL have habits we would not want to become open to public debate..show some respect at this very sad time...
A very sad story....He seemed a nice friendly and sometimes funny man especially when on topic news show Have I Got News For You with a good sense of humour.
Murraymints comments are lovely and brought a lump to my throat, as she knew him, and that means a lot to her.

Poor chap, I always felt that he was that rarity, a principled politician. He's had some body-blows recently with losing his father and his seat in parliament. Definitely R.I.P. and great sympathy to his family.
