/// if we mean assimilating different cultures and adding variety, tolerance and open-mindedness, then britain has been multicultural for thousands of
years. ///
I wondered how long it would be before the history books came into play.
Apart from the two great invasions, those being the Roman and the Norman invasions, being a white European, Christian country we have not seen such an influx of different races along with their various cultures, since the post war mass immigration programme, introduced by Labour.
/// increasingly though, it's come to be seen as the open-minded britishness existing side by side with the culture of the incomers, which has involved bending of previous values, and legal exemptions in some cases, to accommodate this. ///
And why should it be left to us to do all the bending of our values, so as to accommodate others?

AOG...the Polls didn't say that Britain would be ruled by Miliband, and/or Sturgeon. The all agreed with each other in saying that it was going to be a hung Parliament, which is a very different thing to what you have just said.
And lets not forget, the Polls didn't get it all wrong. They correctly predicted the huge rise of the SNP and the huge failure of UKIP. They were spot on with both of those.

didn't. ///

I find it laughable that before the election we had Poll statistics rammed down our throat everyday as to how Labour where in the lead over Dave etc.
The Polls were the holy grail and the true result oracle then. Now it has been proven,as I have always maintained, they are not reliable then YouGov is now disregarded when it suits. :-)

/// AOG ...all your figures prove is that more right-wing people are, the more they think that multiculturalism has made Britain worse. ///
/// No surprises there ! I could have told you that. ///
That is why they are called the 'RIGHT' wing.
We tend to get it right, while our opponents are 'LEFT' by the wayside.

Never mind the UK. From what I have read in the press in the recent past I am hard pressed to see any country in Europe jumping through hoops with their multicultural experiment. I can honestly say I have not heard the Swiss,Danes,Germans and now the Swedes say anything positive about their guests. Not too many years ago we almost had Kristellnacht again in Germany with Turkish workers Ghettoes being fire bombed and I don't think the French are too happy with their Peides Noire.
