If you have saved up all year to take a well-earned family break and your flight was cancelled because of these morons, on a scale of 1 to 10 how painful would their torture to be?

Seriously though, what do these cretins think they are going to achieve by inconveniencing thousands of travellers?

Also, as they have breached the perimter and entered what is (presumably) private land, why haven't Heathrow just simply removed them?

Personal anger is no basis for justifying torture or any over-reaction. Flights will be delayed at worst.

It is quite clearly apparent my tongue was very firmaly wedged into my cheek with the torture comment - if it wan't clear enough for you, then the sentence beginning with 'Seriously though' should have given you a clue.

There are issues with manhandling peaceful protestors. It has to be done by the book.

Removing them is probably not as straighforward as rolling them up with a bulldozer, we hear of new rules on civilised behaviour becoming quite popular. If we can't keep the great unwashed of the world out of the country because of human rights laws, what chance worried homeowners and others being manhandled in their own back yard?

I would lock them up initially, then I would study torture methods, throughout the ages and once I have a PHD in torture I would then apply that new knowledge. Death's too good for them. All Heathrow has to do is to move their crash tenders to the perimeter fence and issue a threat to use them. This is what we did in the sixties when ban the bombers threatened to overrun RAF and AAF bases. The tenders are capable of creating and spraying vast quantities of foam very quickly and in the sixties the foam was made with ox blood and other chemicals which stank. I imagine modern day foam isn't made the same way but the thought of spending your day drenched in sticky foam is a great deterrent.

They have not even decided to build the third runway at Heathrow yet.

The report suggested that a few weeks ago, but it still not has been decided.

It may just as likely be built at Gatwick.

That is what I didnt understand TTT, surely all 'ooman rights are out the window if you breach a security barrier on an airport. The current UK threat level for international terrorism is: SEVERE. This means that a terrorist attack is highly likely, no would-be terrorists know all they have to do to get trhough is not wash for a month.

It has been reported there were 21 cancellations as a result of the ridiculous action taken by the protestors.

It obviously depends of the size of the planes and whether they were full or not, but let's say for the sake of the argument that on average there were 200 to each plane - so that's over 4000 people who have had their flights cancelled.

And to what end?

These people are delusional if they think selfish protests such as this will have any sway over the final decision.
