They probably already have it.
I have not read the details of the deal, but I assume there will be monitoring to stop any material being used for military purposes.

Personally, I am more alarmed that Saudi Arabia, the spiritual home of al qaeda and ISIS have an active nuclear programme. They seem a far bigger danger than Iran.

Also, this is political. Power is changing in the middle east and new alliances have to be forged. The US is no longer dependent on Saudi for oil having become self sufficient by fracking. Saudi are a bit of an embarrassment with their dictatorship and poor human rights. Iran is a democracy and is seen as more politically useful in the region. Which is why the US are making friends.

you are kidding...right !?
In the light of events over recent years I think Gromit has a point. In the grand scheme of things Iran is nowhere near the top of the list of undesirables - unless you are a 4x2 of course.
It is a huge step from nuclear power to Nuclear weapons. The main step is the enrichment process which as well as being highly technical costs an astronomical amount of cash and a massive building programme.
There are 'on site' inspectors who are permanently monitoring the situation, plus they can have all sanctions reimposed in just 65 days if their is a breach of the rules.
I do not think you realise just how much more effort is necessary to produce 'weapons grade' nuclear material from 'power gade' material.

On the basis of "keep your friends close but youre enemies closer" then yes, but the septics cant be as naive to think the eyeranians arent still going for nukes...dont worry though the 4 x 2's wont let them get them though...plus all the other countries in the region dont need eyeran sitting there with them knowing its warlike intentions and aspirations as the main man of the region...
Iran is the most democratic country in the middle east, though that isn't saying much. Whilst there are flaws, their parliament is a free one.

There is currently a power struggle in the middle east, mainly bourne from Saudi insecurity. This manifests itself in proxy wars such as the latest in Yemen. Iran is at the forefront of battling ISIS in Libya and Syria .

dont patronise me, youd be amazed at how much i know about the process...like i said this just delays matters....the eyeranians are the clear "winers" here...but as always the septics will have plenty of other motives and "plans" in place to suit their strategic goals in the region as they do for the whole planet !
The concept of MAD, mutually assured destruction, worked well during the Cold War and saved us all from nuclear devastation.
If Iran had the bomb the Zionists wouldn't dare attack them, nor would they attack Jerusalem.
Question Author
" nor would they attack Jerusalem. "

hahaha, you reckon !?
If they did it would be something of an own goal. The Zionists would then nuke Tehran
It is difficult to have a serious debate when you insist on using daft terminology for countries. Septics, Bubbles, 4x2s, for Jews. To those who don't share your cockney polari, it seems very immature.

Iran can 'enrich' Plutonium but only to 'Reactor Grade' which needs just 3 to 4 % enrichment. Weapons grade needs 93% enrichment .
I once spent 6 months working for the Department of Trade and Industry separating Uranium 'Yellowcake' so I do know a bit about the subject.

nobody says you dont have any idea, but youre assuming others dont..

Stop being so precious Gromit...

Usually statements like that mean your argument has run out of steam. I know for a fact you know exactly what he is talking about, it's just your lefty righ-on hand wringing that is 'offended' Odd since I thought you lot [right-oners] were all for minorities.
// The idea behind Cockney Rhyming Slang is similar to that of all slang — namely, to create words used or understood by an in-group and not by others. //

So alright for talking to your mates, but not a good means of communication to the wider public.

Lets educate them then and expand their vocabulary....and it seems that most people on here understand...and if they dont then this is the site to ask the meanings, thats assuming they havent already done so by googling the term, which more often than not is far quicker than posting on here and waiting in the first place !

Madmen all.

Gromit /// Iran is the most democratic country in the middle east, though that isn't saying much ///

Ahem, forgot about Israel, did we?
