Bigotry Or Genuine Concern?

is the baroness expressing genuine concern for a particular ethnic community? or is this an example of bigotry between different minority groups?

Despite how it has been put, I don't see this as particularly targeted at an ethnic group. A group would get itself targeted due to its beliefs/practices. If there is an issue with first cousin breeding, and that can be established scientifically, then it can be legislated against for everyone. If there is no issue things can be left as they are.

Paper in the eighties - that looked at first cousin marriages and the habit of bride burning ( where the inlaws throw petrol over the wife if the dowry is not forthcoming )

and the two were linked geographically

conclusion was that in areas that bride burning was an issue, you married your cousin because you were less likely to incinerate a relative.

first cousin marriage is an issue in pakistan and NOT the whole of the Indian subcontinent .....
