Presumably to give as wide a choice of candidates as possible.

Hilarious. How so?
Margaret Beckett as well!

Doesn't do much for Labour's shattered reputation does it?
The error was not in nominating Corbyn.

The error was nominating the other 3 candidates who are so pisspoor, they make Corbyn look electable in comparison.
I think that the idea was to be seen not to deny anyone the chance to put themselves forward and let the party decide ( even though you would not in the end vote for that person ) .

Simples, as in politics in general, it's all a matter of transparency ;)
Well I can see right through Corbyn!
Zacs, did that judgment come from the heart or the head? ;)
Cue Blondie song.....
Lol Zacs, I was gonna say 'Picture This' (Corbyn as leader!)
More like Union City Blues!
If Corbyn wins it will be 'Atomic'!
'One way or another', Labour will make sure he doesn't win.
All Kay Burley achieved with her interview was to make herself look nigh-cretinous! This is a result she quite often succeds in producing, as her interview technique...a key element of which is "Don't listen to what the interviewee is saying...is absurd. The average schoolchild would do better.
That's it QM. Rip her to shreds.
I have to agree with my esteemed colleague here.

I interview musicians all the time, and if I repeated a question they had already answered, they would be likely to get up and walk out!

Politicians have to employ more tact and courtesy, but honestly, Kay Burley seemed to be wilfully irritating, confusing inscisive questioning with simple and irrelavent repetition.

One thing I have learned from 35 years of interviewing is that you ask a question, and listen to the response. if there is a development from that answer, then pursue it, and if not, have your next question ready.

It's not that easy, but it comes with experience, something Ms. Burley surely has by now - but you wouldn't think so based on this nonsense!
Gosh Andy. You have such a tough job. If it wasn't for people like you journalism would have a bad rep. Oh....hang on.
And how many more years do you think you'll need before you learn to spell Andy;-))
ladybirder - //And how many more years do you think you'll need before you learn to spell Andy;-)) //

In the Sixth Form at school, a student teacher told me she couldn’t spell, and it was a sign of creativity – a thought I have held onto ever since!! xx
And how many more years do you think you'll need before you learn to end a question with a question mark, ladybirder? ;-))
If you take someone else to task over their use of our language and its conventions, you really need to be sure you've got these right yourself!

I'm glad you agree with my criticism of Kay Burley, Andy, so thanks for that support. Someone described her as, "The Sarah Palin of auto-cue readers." That neatly sums up her level of common sense and highlights her one and only clear journalistic skill...the ability to read!
You may nominate two people for a variety of reasons - but you owe it to the electorate to explain

In 1964 ( ! ! ) we had a form election at final y primary skool based on and around and during Harold Wilson's first famous election ( famous for er... the smethwick by-election ) - and precisely this came up up - Bloggz had nominated Coggz and voted for Schmoggz and was invited to address the form on the reasons why .....

well I can tell you when I formed THAT memory I neva thought it would nominate it fifty years later for public delectation

That same idea came up during the Thatcher re election didnt it ?

o yeah and some of the gurlz found it absolutely hilarious but they arent very sensible at that age are they ?
