TTT...the money didn't "disappear" ....it went to pay the salaries of the staff, so that the Charity could continue to operate. Organisations of this size can't survive on volunteers...they need properly trained and experienced staff.
I don't think that there is any doubt that Kids Company has done a marvelous job over the years. Successive Governments, of all colours, have supported their good work, as well as many private companies and private individuals.
But it appears that the accounting side of the business wasn't up to scratch, and confidence seeped away. Whatever we think of Batmanghelidjh, I don't think there is any doubt that her heart is in the right place. Charities like this are very often the only agencies that help deeply troubled kids and their communities. It is clear at the moment what will happen to all those kids and their problems, now that Kids Company has had to fold.
