Mickey, labour were not directly responsible for the Banking crisis, but they were culpable for allowing reckless lending by the population and reckless spending leaving the pot empty when we needed something to help us out of a tight spot.
I really don't get though how you are tying a Banking crisis to Exec's pay? It's not just Banks in the FTSE 100 you know.

Nonsense Naomi....the Labour Party will come back and win again, just like the Tories did after their disastrous defeat in 1997. To suggest otherwise doesn't make sense and is jumping the gun.
Lets look at the facts, not opinions ::::
The Labour Party is in a far, far better position now than the Tories were in 1997. They are in opposition with 232 MPs, up against a Tory Party that has a majority of just 10.
In 1997, the Tories were reduced to just 165 MPs, up against a Labour majority of 177 !
So, to suggest that "Labour is "finished" or words to that effect, is far wide of the mark and smacks of wishful thinking.
Lets look at the facts, not opinions ::::

In 1997, the Tories were reduced to just 165 MPs, up against a Labour majority of 177 !
So, to suggest that "Labour is "finished" or words to that effect, is far wide of the mark and smacks of wishful thinking.
Labour may have 232 seats but the Tories have 339, a difference of 102. The majority is only reduced because all the minority parties, with perhaps the exception of the DUP, will side with Labour. Let's see if that state of affairs continues under a Corbyn leadership. Don't forget that the last election was won for the Tories, not by Cameron or Miliband, but by Sturgeon, whose arrogant claim that she would do whatever was possible to keep the Tories out was met with a typical two-fingered response from the English electorate.

it was a different world even as recently as 1997. the tories were still labouring under the repercussions of black wednesday in 1992 and started the campaign 40 points behind. major pitched a long campaign hoping to outwit labour but all that happened was james goldsmith's sideshow exposed their deep divisions on europe. 1997 was labour's to win, and they did. labour should also have won this year, following 5 years of unpopular coalition, and reversing the trend at every election since 1997 where the labour result was a net loss of seats. but they didn't, and in a way this situation is worse for labour than it was for the the tories in 1997.

1997...Labour had been in opposition for 18 years.....18 years! until a young smart well educated, well spoken Labour politician saw that the way to Government was a move to the centre ground. He took it and Labour (New Labour) remained in power for about 10 years...the electorate loved it........
So what happened next .....Labour elected a left of centre candidate and although unfairly in my opinion, labelled him "Red Ken"
C'mon mikey....that was never going to work, even against a watered down Tory party in coalition.
2015.....Labour's big chance...they cant lose mikey....Lib Dems a joke and Tories, unpopular..............blow me........LABOUR lost. But how can that be, a Party for the good of the people, a centre left party.....LOST?
The elecorate has made it clear...yes they will give Labour a go, but not a left wing Labour Party.
So what does Labour do?.......Go for the most left wing leader they have had since Michael Foot.

Mush....a well argued post but I am not convinced. The facts and figures speak for themselves. To listen to some people, you would think that the Labour Party was reduced to 8 MP's, instead of 232 !
Labour will bounce back, of course it will, because what other alternative to the Tories exist in Britain ? The answer is that there is no alternative, ...it certainly won't be the LibDems or UKIP !
