He isn't the first and certainly won't be the last. Is this just news because of the Nelson Mandela connection?
Let's hope the investigation/trial uncovers the truth....as is only right and proper with 'any' such incident.
what's Mandela got to do with it? This is about as important as Morgan Freeman's granddaughter being killed: sad but grandchildren are not really proper celebrity news.
It's an interesting media perspective, that this crime is only media-worthy because of the accused's family connection.

Similar reports crop up regularly - David Gilmour's son damaging a flag was another one.

I have five grandchildren, but because I am utterly un-famous, I doubt that any of their potentially newsworthy exploits - for good or bad reasons - will make worldwide media - and amen to that!

We've cross-posted jno - but our thoughts are the same.
The Mandella family name is not that squeaky clean anyway due to the exploits of Winnie.
But before we jump to any rash conclusions, we should remember that this is just an accusation at the moment. He has not been found guilty of anything.
Nelson wasn't responsible for what Winnie did while he was inside, but he divorced her when he got out. Likewise he's not responsible for what grandchildren do after he's dead.
Obviously sainthood doesn't pass down the generations.

Who is jumping to any rash conclusions, and no body has said that he is guilty of anything?
perhaps you could explain exactly why you did post your OP, then?

So sorry the likes of you cannot find anything to twist around into something quite different, or even question the choice of newspaper.

But to answer your question, this is a news report entered on the news section for debate, isn't that what AB is all about.

I don't think jno is looking to 'twist' anything - in view of the fact that you simply posted the link with no question, it could appear that a question about your reason for posting is reasonable.

I would like to add to jno's request for clarification please.

Yes I know both you and your friend jno are looking for hidden agendas, but this time you will just have to use your vivid bias imagination and construct one.

Not much to go on since it does not happen to be a Daily Mail report, but you could say it is a Nelson Mandela attack, seeing that there is a certain amount of hero worship surrounding the late President of South Africa, or perhaps go down the racist avenue, that's well trod?

I will leave it entirely up to you Andy unless jno jumps up in your defence, after all you did for him/her?
I saw this post this morning and didn't know how to respond because it's purpose was unclear.

Simply posting a link to a newspaper article does not open debate. Had you added a comment or a question then it would have opened things up considerably more.
The News Section is going to get clogged up pretty quickly if it simply becomes a place to post random headlines.

Can I have a go?

Fill your boots.....
Sadly it would seem those families who were infamous breed children who seem to play on that infamy and believe they can be equally misbehaved.
The Kennedy clan spring to mind.

How many get away with just:

'BREAKING NEWS'

http://www.etc, etc?
That is an apples and oranges comparison AOG.

A 'breaking news' post serves a purpose, not everyone is glued to a news website or has a news ticker popping up.

I am unsure why this vitriol is being heaped upon my head, I merely asked a simple question, which echoed jno's simple question.

I mentioned your response which I thought was unessessarily harsh, and simply got an even harsher response myself!

I am not 'looking' for any 'agendas' - I don't do that, and I think you have known me long enough and well enough to know that to be true.

//Not much to go on since it does not happen to be a Daily Mail report, but you could say it is a Nelson Mandela attack, seeing that there is a certain amount of hero worship surrounding the late President of South Africa, or perhaps go down the racist avenue, that's well trod? //

Not thought about it that far yet - but I don't think either of those perspectives will be making it into my mind set, thank you.

// I will leave it entirely up to you Andy unless jno jumps up in your defence, after all you did for him/her? //

Am I supposed to be grateful that you offer noblesse oblige and allow me to think for myself?

Excuse me - I'm not.
