It used to be a phrase used by 'fading' comedians who appeared in summer season at seaside theatres.
If the comic told a joke, and people laughed, he would follow it up with 'Tell your friends, I'm here all week ...' in an effort to put some more bottoms on seats through the week of his tenure in the theatre.
