AOG - I don't think that moving to a country means that you join everyone who is behaving in exactly the same way.

If you move to England, you don't join everyone wearing bowler hats and carrying furled umbrellas.

This woman may well have had no real concept of where she was going, or what she would find - I don't think IS do Trip Advisor.

She followed her husband, maybe believing his cause, maybe not, we don't know, but finding it was not a society she wished to stay in, she has decided to come home.

Really, none of us know much more than those bare facts.

I can't speak for her, but I have advantage of an enquiring mind, and an excellent access to news and information, so no, I don't think I am naïve - but as always, that is a matter of opinion.

Hang on - I have stated a position based on lack of knowledge of the facts since I first posted on this thread - and you have maintained an attitude of hostility and suspicion.

So why are you now agreeing with me, that we don't know anything like the facts, when you started off bandying phrases like 'traitor' around the thread?

I did mention it - but only in terms of not making the assumption that this woman will be returning to live on benefits.

There is no evidence that she is not a career woman with her own business - so let's not jump to stereotypical conclusions shall we?

It would seem that this woman does not feel the need for child benefits so should not be given them IF she gets back into the UK unless someone is going to convince me that she thought she could claim benefits on the IS Social Services in Syria.

divebuddy - I would entirely agree that your second scenario is the more likely, but I always try and avoid social stereotyping, which crops up far too often on threads involving ethnic minorities.
